Dr. Kashiwa grew up in Lake Forest Park and graduated from Shorecrest High School in 1976. She attended the University of Washington and received her undergraduate degree in Zoology (1982) and her Dental degree at the UW School of Dentistry (1985). She received additional post graduate training in the UW DECOD Program (dental care of the disabled). She started her practice in 1985 at Thrasherís Corner and has been there ever since. Dr. Kashiwa has a strong commitment to community. She is active in several programs providing access to care for low income adults and children. In 2005 she started her ìPay It Forward With A Smileî program in response to the increasing need for basic care for low income families.

Dr. Kashiwa resides in Seattle, is married, has two sons, and a dog. She enjoys spending time with her family doing outdoor activities such as biking, skiing, and hiking.
